Ashley Mothena, President

Ashley is serving as president for 2024-2026. Ashley Mothena Ashley has been in the club since 2011. She joined the club after deciding to make Blacksburg home a short time after graduating from Virginia Tech in hopes of making friends while serving her community. She has previously served as Treasurer and VP of Reporting before serving as President. Her favorite service projects are The Montgomery County Christmas Store and the Period Product Drive. Outside of the BJWC, Ashley and her husband stay busy with their two small children. 

 

Amy Dempsey, Vice President of Reporting

Amy is serving as Vice President of Reporting. She also serves as the Junior Club liaison for the Blue Ridge District. She has been in the club for 10 years. Amy joined after moving to the area to meet and make new friends. Her three favorite service projects are Cornerstone apartment setup for Women’s center, Last minute angels and Cinderella Project.

 

Rebecca Ovelgoenner, Vice President of Membership

Rebecca is serving as Vice President of Membership for 2024-2026.


Elizabeth Young, Secretary

Elizabeth is serving as Secretary for a second term in 2024-2026. She has been with the Blacksburg Junior Women’s Club since 2020, and the club’s secretary since 2022.

She initially joined the BJWC as a way to give back to the community that raised her, growing up and graduating from Christiansburg High School. Elizabeth’s favorite project is the annual Diaper Drive, which provides support to the Montgomery County Christmas Store. She also enjoys shopping for Last Minute Angels for the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program and supporting Micah’s Backpack by packing weekend meals for students in need.

Outside of volunteering with BJWC, Elizabeth enjoys completing citizen science projects that she performs with the Virginia Master Naturalist Program. She is also an avid reader and enjoys spending time with her fur babies, Wrigley and Lainey.


 

Tiasha Khan, Treasurer

Tiasha is serving as treasurer for 2024-2026. She joined BJWC in 2019. She is especially passionate about volunteering. Two of her favorite projects are the Montgomery County Christmas Store and To Our House, where she feels most connected to our community.
