Trex Soft Plastic Recycling

Throughout the year we collect soft plastic recycling from the Blacksburg Rec Center as well as from other local business partners such as Blacksburg Books, Eats and Edison Aesthetics. This effort keeps reusable plastics out of the landfill to be made into benches and other materials.

In May and August members support our local collegiate YMCA’s sustainability efforts. They are able to divert usable dorm furniture and supplies from landfills by supplying PODS for storage over the summer which are then organized and resell it to students and the community in August during move in.

Past Projects

Members have supported other local environmental efforts such as partnering with Sustainable Blacksburg and other organizations for opportunities such as hurricane clean up, trail maintenance and more.
